Girl Time

I was at the grocery store upset one day, and in an attempt not to buy my usual comfort of chocolate I instead bought a little thing of nail polish to cheer me up. We turned it into some girl time.

1 color, 30 toes

I got some Curlformers for my birthday last year, and Jossy finally decided she wanted to try them out. She actually left them in all night which shocked me since they're not the most comfortable. Her curls were GORGEOUS!!! I kept thinking what a pretty little Goldilocks she'd make.

And if getting her toes painted for the first time wasn't enough girly excitement for Lacey this past week, she also got her first set of pigtails.

11 Months

Less than a month til this little one's first birthday. She's about 15 lbs now, which pretty much means she'll be rear facing in her carseat til high school. She can walk holding our fingers but avoids it at all costs. The second we try to get her to do it, she's bending down to get back on her knees. She does giggle at her speed, though, when she's using her walker.

She's a real pill at church. She's not happy being held or playing with her toys, so every week is a challenge to get through. (There are WAY too many months til nursery!) She loves to climb things. She loves the stairs and laughs when I discover her halfway up and bring her back down. She cannot seem to leave the dishwasher alone, and any time the door's open she's climbing up on it. She loves to climb on big brother and sister's trampoline but can't get back down. This look of her on her knees, arms stretched out whining to be picked up is how I see her at least 50% of the day. Once I do pick her up, she laughs and squeals about getting her way. She is a MAJOR cuddler.

She loves to eat what we're eating for dinner most of the time like chicken pillows, meatloaf, pasta triangles and quiche. Goldfish crackers, freeze-dried yogurt, and bananas are among her favorite foods. Having no teeth yet hasn't stopped her from enjoying things. She really loves water. I've been giving it to her for months now since my supply of breast milk isn't fantastic, and it keeps her hydrated. I think she's going to LOVE whole milk when we switch her over next month.

Sometimes having the picture in focus doesn't matter when you get a smile like this.

"May I help you?"

"Why hello there! Can I help you find something today?"

"Perhaps some potholders or scotch tape? No?"

"Alright, then maybe some packing tape?"

"How about these lovely pair of scissors??"

The White Stuff

No, I haven't forgotten that I have a blog. Yes, I'm more than a tad behind. There's a lot keeping me busy right now and many things are getting pushed to the bottom of my "to do" list that used to live at the top. That's just the way it goes sometimes.

These pictures are from playing in the backyard a few weeks ago on our first real snow day of the year. It's been a very weird winter here in Utah.

Matty made this snow man with absolutely no help from me.
He named him Abraham after Lincoln because of the tall "hat."

What is it with kids and eating snow???
Do I not provide them with enough to drink?
Is there not enough cold water and ice inside the house?
Is 10 feet just too far to walk to get some?
Guess I'll never know.
