Saying Goodbye with a Water Blob

I absolutely detest the last week of summer.  I put all this pressure on myself to do everything we didn't get around to doing all summer.  We went to Trafalga, Seven Peaks water park, Kangaroo Zoo, lunch with dad, and on and on. One thing I REALLY wanted to do but never got around to was the famous water blob that's floating around Pinterest from time to time.  So we went to the store for supplies and got 'er done. The plastic sheeting was about $10 at Walmart, the tape another couple bucks.

After the pain of taping everything up, it was pure AWESOMENESS!

 

The cold water inside felt so good on such a hot day.  It did leak all over the sides despite double folding and taping everything but it didn't matter too much.  I could even sit on it dressed and stay dry for the most part.

 

We all loved it. Well, Alice was less than thrilled but she handled it.  I even called Dan home from work to try it out since I wasn't sure how long it would last. 

The kids played on it for hours in the morning then had friends over in the afternoon to play with them.  We had to hose off the top since the plastic and water inside had gotten really hot on a 100 degree day.  We even put a ton of ice cubes on it for fun.  The kids loved it.  The next day there was less water in it from the leaks where the tape was.  We filled it a bit, then let the kids jump on it to destroy it.  Turns out it was stronger than we thought and they had to actually pry any almost-holes with their hands to get anything to rip open. 

This is now on our yearly summer to-do list!

A Blessed Girl

Can we say "overwhelmed?"  Yeah, I'm pretty much drowning in mommyhood right now so the blog has gone to the bottom of the to-do list.  Well, I guess not the bottom since I'm blogging right now rather than folding the piles of laundry that need it or calling on medical bills or balancing my checkbook that's sitting right in front of me or even getting dressed.  (Being presentable is over-rated anyway.) 

We blessed Alice on August 11th.  I sewed her dress about 2 weeks before she was born with some ruffled fabric a friend gave me.  It turned out great and was relatively easy to sew.  She looked beautiful of course.  I made her little headband out of leftover beading from the dress.  She also got a little bracelet made by her mom just like my other girls as a keepsake from the day. 

 This is Alice with her little cousin Gia who's just 2 weeks older.  They were very ruffly girls together that day! 

 I would do a whole separate post about her dress, but like I said, drowning here.  Just gotta get these in somewhere before she turns 16.  I don't even have the time to do any fun edits, just some basics.
